Lieberman’s Many Buyback Locations for West Chester Students – Winter 2011!

Dynamic Bookstore has several convenient locations where WCU students can get MORE CASH for their books! You can sell your books back all year round at our store at 20 Linden Street, and starting December 5th, during the last two weeks of the semester, we will add our four other locations for buyback. There will be a buyback cart on Church Street in front of Ruby Jones Hall, another across the street from the Student Union (at the first crosswalk), a van on Church Street between Anderson Hall and the Old Library, and a buyback location in the West Chester Commons Lobby. No matter which location you choose, Dynamic will give you the MOST CASH for your books!

Move In 101 – For WCU College Freshman!

Heading off to college for the first time is an adventure, and moving in at the beginning of the semester is the first step. With everything going on it’s very easy to forget or overlook even the simplest of things. Below is some advice from current WCU students for those of you about to become part of the WCU student community.

For students moving into a standard dorm, such as Goshen Hall:

- Bring a pair of flip flops or similar footwear for the shower.

- Make sure to have quarters for doing laundry as the card machines do not always work.

- Bring a fan! You will be glad you did when it gets hot out. The standard dorms are not air conditioned.

- If you are looking for more floor space, bunk your beds!

- Bring a water bottle to fill up at the water fountain in the hall.

Students moving into a new dorm such as Brandywine, Alleghany, or U-Hall:

- Bring toilet paper! It is not provided for you in these dorms as you have private bathrooms.

- You will need to bring a shower curtain for your bathroom.

- Though some furniture is provided, there is room for an additional chair or double seat couch in certain room set ups. Find one for cheap and double your seating!

- The new dorms run completely on wireless internet. Be sure your computer has this capability.

- Make an effort to meet your neighbors! These dorms are not as easily social as the standard dorms due to their setup, so get out there and meet new people.

Every student, regardless of living arrangements, should know that:

- Paper towels are a college student’s best friend, especially if you plan to eat and drink in your room.

- Bring extra toothpaste / soap / etc… Don’t run out halfway through the semester.

- Bring an extra towel or two for the shower. Avoid reusing a dirty towel because you forgot to do laundry!

- Set your bed-frame as high as it will go and utilize the extra storage space underneath.

- Febreze – Bring it.

- Make sure you have extra notebooks and folders for the semester to organize papers and notes. Dynamic Bookstore has all your basic school supplies to go with your textbooks!

West Chester Students Should Check-Out Causeworld

Do you like Foursquare, Gowalla or some other application where you can “check-in” to your favorite places? Why not take it one step further and do it for a good cause? CauseWorld is an application for iPhone and Android. With this app, you check-in to your favorite local businesses in West Chester and the “karma” points you get for checking in can be used to support a variety of charitable causes including the National Breast Cancer Foundation, LiveStrong, Feeding America, Heroes at Home, and many more.

Another feature on this application is that you can scan product bar codes and some products will give you a coupon. Also, some stores and restaurants may have an offer only found through this application that you can benefit from by checking into CauseWorld. Get this application and you can check-in to your favorite places around West Chester University, get great deals to help with your student-sized budget, and help out people in the process!

14th Annual Bear Fair at WCU this November

November is the month for the annual Bear Fair. The Bear Fair is a program where people donate new teddy bears that are soft and cuddly and the bears are then distributed to hospitals and shelters during the holiday season for childern who could really use a hug. This program is being run by a WCU student committee based out of the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs at West Chester. The only requirements for donating a bear are that the bear be new, soft, and at least 6 inches tall. There are drop-off sites all around West Chester Univerisity’s campus including one in Killinger Hall, and you can bring a bear to Sykes After Dark and get 5 extra raffle tickets for the big prize of the night. This program is running throughout the month of November.
